Spiritual Reflexology

Spiritual Reflexology was inspired from teaching a workshop in the fall of 1997 in Tucson, AZ. From the 22 students that attended that course, there loomed a question over us, no one able to voice it. At the end of the weekend, the question was crystal clear in my mind. “What else can be offered with Reflexology besides address the physical concerns of the body?”
The answer is that all levels of our being can be addressed through Reflexology; because we are spiritual beings having a human experience.
Spiritual Reflexology: Spiritual Gifts of the Body, was born.
Spiritual Reflexology is the application of a massage technique to address the spiritual aspects of who we are. Reflexology is a very good modality or tool to use for this task, as it addresses all the glands, organs, body parts and vital fluids in the body.
Traditionally, Reflexology has been used to address physical concerns in the body (i.e. headaches, constipation, insomnia, sore feet), by palpating reflexes, areas on the feet and hands, that correspond to all parts of the body.
In my practice I noticed a change in the mental and emotional aspects of people who received treatments. They first began by asking more questions about the treatment and then how to address their hands and feet themselves.
They became more empowered and felt less helpless when their health was not at its’ best. Some clients began changing how they responded to pain. A stiff neck, slight head or stomach ache once treated with a pill, is now treated with a moment of silence, deep breathing and addressing (holding, palpating) the reflex of the area in discomfort.
This process seemed to spill over into other aspects of their lives, changing how they respond to “life on life’s terms”. They began looking and using alternative ways to feel better and seeking within for answers.
